Congratulations to the eight individuals who have qualified to participate in the regional meet this coming week at Austintown Fitch High School. The meet is Wednesday and Friday, with the schedule being the same each day--field events at 5:00, running events at 6:00. Go Jags!

Lineup and itinerary for district meet at Mayfield 5/16 & 5/18

The field events begin at 4:00 both days. The running events begin at 5:00 on Wednesday and at 6:00 on Friday. The only finals on Wednesday are the 4x800 relay, shot put and high jump. The rest of the day will be preliminaries in the running events. It is possible (although unlikely) to have preliminaries in every event, including the 3200-meter run. It rarely happens in the 1600 and the 3200, but we have to be ready for the possibility. In all preliminaries the top 8 times make it to the finals. The top four in the finals qualify to compete next week in the regional meet.

We will travel in one wave on Wednesday, with the bus leaving at 2:15 (it is an early-release day). The first day of the district meet has been known to sometimes go well into the night, so we also must be prepared for that. Right now it appears the weather will be fine, but you never know. It is rare to have a district meet without at least one rain or lightning delay. On Friday, the field events people will get out of class at 2:00 and travel in a van that leaves at 2:15. The bus for everyone else leaves at 3:15.

Lineup and itinerary for All-Catholic meet at VA-SJ 5/12

The bus is leaving at 7:30 am. If you are driving yourself please get there by 8 am. The field events begin at 9 am. Also at 9 am are preliminaries in the high hurdles and 100 dash, followed by the 4x800m relay. After a 20-minute break, the meet will then begin with the finals in the high hurdles and then continue through the regular order of events. This meet starts early and goes quickly, so it should be over by about 1:00 and we should be back no later than 2:00.

We will have a bus leaving SJA at 3:15 to take you to St. Edward. However, there will be no return bus, so you need to arrange your travel if necessary. The field events begin at 4:30 and the running events begin at 5:00. Three places score in a dual meet--5 points for first place, 3 points for second place, 1 point for third. In relays, only the winner scores and that team gets 5 points. This meet will be run as a double-dual meet, with separate scores kept for the varsity and for the junior varsity. Because of that setup there is a unique rule that we use--you have to enter three people in a varsity event before you can enter any JVs in the corresponding event.
