Final Post - tying up loose ends

Regionals has come and gone, but unfortunately that is the last track and field meet for the SJA team. Our best finish was the 4 x 800 team in 6th place - two spots out of qualifying for the state meet. The group ran a season's best of 9:39, but it wasn't quite enough. Also earning a spot on the podium at regionals were Rachel Borowski with a season's best 2:20.02 (7th place) and Kristin Karn with an 8th place finish in the 3200.

With the banquet behind us that leaves just 2 items of importance to tackle.

1. GET YOUR UNIFORMS TURNED IN IMMEDIATELY! Please put them in a plastic bag with your name in it or on it.

2. The spring informational cross country meeting will be held Wednesday during 1st activity block in room 331.

Check out the sister site for cross country at www.sjaxc.blogspot.com

Thanks for a great season and be sure to check back occassionally for updates and information regarding next year.

Day 1 results

We had a good day 1 at districts with many PR's and regional qualifiers already in hand (top 4 in each event).

Starting the day off for SJA was the high jump, where Jaguars got 2nd (Jordan Daugherty) and 4th (Katelyn Seroka). Shortly afterwards the 4 x 800 team of Kristin Karn (2:22), Kelly Gallagher (2:27), Gabby Kreuz (2:29), and Rachel Borowski (2:26) earned a second place finish with a solid 9:45. Last but not least was the shot put in which Sam Sulzer earned a second straight trip to regionals with a 2nd place finish (32'5").

The running events saw some PR's including Julie Delong in the 200 (28.2), Gabby Kreuz in the 400 (61.1 - #2 all-time SJA and finals qualifier), Erin Gaffney in the 800 semis (2:28.9) and Bride Sweeney in the 300H with 52.74. The 4 x 200 also qualified to the finals running a season's best of 1:50. The 4 x 400 made finals as well with a time of 4:13.

After the first day of competition, the Jags find themselves in first place with 27 points. 1 point ahead of Medina Highland and 7 points ahead of Revere.
