When the dust settled, the Jaguars of SJA finished 4th at the OHSAA Division I district championship held at Lakewood High School. Medina Highland left the meet as the district champions.
From beginning to end the Jags had their best meet of the year, getting personal bests and season bests all night long capped with a resounding school record in the 4 x 400.
The day began with Maureen Bole scoring a PR and 3rd place finish in the discus with a toss of 105'0". Megan Seaman got things going with PR and final-qualifying effort in the long jump with a leap of 15'9".
The sprint relays were on fire running season bests in both the 4 x 200 and 4 x 100, where both teams finished 5th. Dominique Williams led off both teams and got help from Gab Kreuz, Bride Sweeney, and Julie Delong in the 4 x 200, while Bride Sweeney, Julie Delong, and Bri Papotto completed the 4 x 100.
In the 800, Celine Mangan ran a lifetime best and all-time SJA freshmen record of 2:21.4 - good for 4th and a trip to regionals. Kristin Karn backed her up with a season best 2:23.9 for 6th.
Big Kick Kelly Gallagher ran a PR and season best in the 1600 of 5:20 which notched her a 5th place score. Melissa Bresnahan followed suit with a superb time of 11:32 in the 3200 good for 3rd place, while Kelly came back with a great run of 11:41 good for 5th place finish.
Possibly the highlight of the night was the big school record and 4th place finish in the 4 x 400 by the team of Gab Kreuz, Kaitlyn Seroka, Julie Delong, and Celine Mangan. Their time of 4:05 beat the record of 4:07 set two years ago at the district meet.
