Week of Monday, March 27, 2017
We are 3 weeks in. In my mind this means a few things, the
biggest being aches and pains may be setting in. Do NOT try to be a hero and run through
everything. If needed, a day off can be
the difference between finishing the season or not. On the other hand, be sure you know the
difference between sore and injured.
Some of you have a very small athletic history and may not know the
difference yet.
Like we said Saturday –
this is a process. Keep getting
stronger, keeping learning your techniques, and keep achieving for
greatness. Most of you have a starting
point now. Demand from yourself
exceptional improvements. Throwers
should be thinking of adding 2 feet or more by the end of the season in shot
and 10-20 feet more in discus. Long
jumpers should want to add 1-3 feet.
High jump 6-8 inches. 100m dash
and 100H perhaps as much as a full second, maybe just .5-.8 for the top end
where times are tough to crunch that much.
200m ppl – 1-1.5 seconds or more!
400 – 3-8 seconds. 300H – 3-6
seconds. 800 – 10 or more seconds can
happen. Milers, for some 10 seconds, for
others 25-30 seconds. 3200 – 30-60
seconds (or more) if done on the right day.
