After 4 consecutive district championships, the Jags came across what is thought by many to be the most difficult district in the entire state of Ohio. The quality and depth in each event was evident, but SJA had their best meet of the season as an entire team to finish 4th. In all, the Jaguars are sending athletes in 8 different events to the regional meet out of a possible 17.
The lone district champion for SJA was senior Monica Hahn, who ran an incredible race from lane 1 to defend her title from last year. The 4 x 200 and 4 x 100 meter relay teams both finished 2nd overall to earn trips to the Amherst Regional meet. Hahn, junior Lauren Zawie, senior Kye Williams, and freshmen Haley Morgan and Timmia Crayton-Prioleau made up those relays.
Third place finishes were had by Williams in the long jump and the 4 x 800m relay team of sophomore Sydney Seymour, juniors Maggie Wagner and Olivia Battistoni, and sophomore Jocelyn Perkins.
Fourth place qualifiers were Williams in the high jump, Seymour in the 1600m run, Zawie in the 200m dash, and freshman Emma Pesicka in the shot put.
The Amherst regional will take place next week on May 25 and 27. Finishers in the top 4 in each event qualify to the state meet the following weekend at Jesse Owens Stadium on Ohio State's campus.
