Lineup and itinerary for district meet at Mayfield 5/16 & 5/18
The field events begin at 4:00 both days. The running events begin at 5:00 on Wednesday and at 6:00 on Friday. The only finals on Wednesday are the 4x800 relay, shot put and high jump. The rest of the day will be preliminaries in the running events. It is possible (although unlikely) to have preliminaries in every event, including the 3200-meter run. It rarely happens in the 1600 and the 3200, but we have to be ready for the possibility. In all preliminaries the top 8 times make it to the finals. The top four in the finals qualify to compete next week in the regional meet.
We will travel in one wave on Wednesday, with the bus leaving at 2:15 (it is an early-release day). Lineup and itinerary for All-Catholic meet at VA-SJ 5/12
The bus is leaving at 7:30 am. If you are driving yourself please get there by 8 am. The field events begin at 9 am. Also at 9 am are preliminaries in the high hurdles and 100 dash, followed by the 4x800m relay. After a 20-minute break, the meet will then begin with the finals in the high hurdles and then continue through the regular order of events. This meet starts early and goes quickly, so it should be over by about 1:00 and we should be back no later than 2:00.

Lineup for dual meet with Magnificat 5/7 @ St. Edward
We will have a bus leaving SJA at 3:15 to take you to St. Edward. However, there will be no return bus, so you need to arrange your travel if necessary. The field events begin at 4:30 and the running events begin at 5:00. Three places score in a dual meet--5 points for first place, 3 points for second place, 1 point for third. In relays, only the winner scores and that team gets 5 points. This meet will be run as a double-dual meet, with separate scores kept for the varsity and for the junior varsity. Because of that setup there is a unique rule that we use--you have to enter three people in a varsity event before you can enter any JVs in the corresponding event.

Lineup and itinerary for NCL Meet at Padua 5/1 and 5/3
Please note that this is a tentative lineup that could be changed after practice tomorrow. I don't anticipate major changes, but there could be some tweaking tomorrow.
This is a two-day meet and on both days the field events begin at 4:00 and the running events begin at 5:00. You will get out of class at 2:15 and the bus will depart at 2:30. On Tuesday there are finals in the 4x800, shot put and long jump as well as preliminaries in the high hurdles, 100, 400, low hurdles and 200. Lineup and itinerary for Avon Reynolds Relays 4/28
The meet begins at 9:00 am with the long jump and the 4x1600m relay. The shot starts at 9:30. We will be traveling in two waves. The first bus, which is for the long jumpers, shot putters and 4x1600 relay people, will leave at 7:30. The second bus, which is for everyone else, will leave at 9:30. If you are providing your own transportation, you should be there at 8:00 for the early events and 10:00 for the others. This meet looks like it could get done relatively early, maybe around 3:00 or 3:30, which should get us back to school no later than 4:00.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter that much. Overall it was a very strong performance, but we need to start cleaning up the little things that can turn into big things.

Disappointments--DQ in shuttles (hands off!), leaving our mangled tent behind.
Congratulations on winning our first meet of the season. That statement can be interpreted one of two ways--it was our first meet and we won, or it was the first of several meets we are going to win this season. Either way you look at it, we should be happy. We demonstrated great depth, placing in all events that we entered except for one, as well as great top-end depth, winning five of the 13 events. We also dominated the field events, scoring 42 of a possible 50 points, and the distance events, scoring 26 of a possible 30 points. No asterisks yet on the result sheet since this is our first meet, but we had a handful of people who set lifetime bests despite the conditions. Everyone also did a good job of ignoring the gale-force winds and just getting to work. Way to go, Jags! Lots of work is ahead, but this was a great way to start.

Also, if you are not scheduled to compete but want to come and support your teammates, that's also fine. If you are meeting us at the meet (it's at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson) then be there at 10:00 if you are in the early group and at noon if you are in the later group. I am estimating the meet to be over at about 4:30, which gets us back to school at about 5:30. Please keep in mind that this is a total guess.

What a great way to end a very successful indoor season!
Congratulations to Annie Allen for getting on the podium and earning her third
All-Ohio honor. The race went out too slowly and she got a little caught up in
traffic, but she showed great heart and talent in breaking her own school
record to finish sixth. Additionally, we had several season-best performances
in the relays, topped off by a remarkable 4x400 that caught all of the coaches
by surprise. I love it when people get caught up in the moment and go out and
compete, which is exactly what happened. The 4x200 relay missed the school
record by about one-half second, and the 4x400 was within a second of the
school record, cutting nearly 10 seconds off the previous best time. Great
performances all around. In all we had 11 athletes compete in the state meet
with only one senior in the bunch. The future definitely looks bright.
Now we turn our attention to outdoor track. With this
kind of indoor season we have set the bar high for the outdoor season, but
that’s the way we like it. Nothing wrong with challenging ourselves to do even
better and achieve even more. Now we just have to make sure that we continue
the momentum that we built up during the winter and keep things rolling into
the outdoor season. I am excited and I hope you are, too. Go Jags!
