Regionals in the books - next up states!

The track and field season enjoyed one of their best performances ever at the OHSAA Amherst regional tournament last Friday when 3 school records were set, 7 different events scored points, and the 4 x 200m relay team qualified for the second year in a row to the state meet.  The Jaguars showed great balance across the various disciplines by scoring in a throwing event, jumping event, sprint event, hurdle event, and distance event.

The relay team of MaryKate Caja ('13), Becca Sedlak ('14), Gab Leon ('14), and Brenna McGrath ('13) took the 4th and final qualifying spot with a school record time of 1:43.19 in the 4 x 200m relay.  Sedlak later came back to finish 7th and set a school record in the 400m dash with a time of 59.24 seconds.  Not to be outdone, freshman hurdler Ky Williams finished 7th in the 100 meter hurdles and broke one of the oldest school records on the books with a time of 15.80 seconds.

The 4 girls in the state qualifying relay will run at Ohio State's Jesse Owens stadium on Friday June 7th in the semifinals with the goal of reaching the finals on Saturday.
Go Jags!
