Ladies, I was proud of your performance in our first time out. I liked the competitiveness that I saw and I also liked how you worked as a team. If you are unhappy with how you did, don’t worry—you will have plenty of opportunities to improve. Also, if you are unhappy with how you did I believe that demonstrates a healthy, competitive attitude, which I like. There’s something you always should keep in mind during the indoor season: most of the teams that we compete against put much more emphasis on indoor track than we do. It’s a philosophical difference—we would rather be at our best in May and June, while many of the people who look good in January will be long gone by then. I checked with many of the coaches Thursday night and most of them started practicing Dec. 1 and they practice every day. So you need to stay patient, believe in our system and continue to work hard. The results will come. Just focus on what you can control—your effort, your attitude and your health.

ATHLETES OF THE MEET:
Overall MVA—Annie Allen (2:30.6 in 4x8, 2:33.01 in open 800)
Sprints—TCP (27.8 out of the blocks in the 4x2, 64.5 in the 4x4)
Distance/middle distance—Maggie Wagner (64.8 in the 4x4, 2:38.2 in the 4x8)
Field—Emma Pesicka (37-2¼ to win the shot put)
